While working on Wall Street, the founder of emploi New York (who shall, for the moment, remain unnamed–just know she’s a fabulous, gorgeous woman) had a difficult time finding outfits that were stylish and affordable and could easily transition from work to late night dinner with friends.
That’s when the idea for emploi New York was born. emploi was founded with the goal of offering the modern working woman a great-fitting dress that she could wear in the office, and then afterward, wherever the night may take her.
The line, all of which is conceived and manufactured locally in New York City, consists of clean-cut, sophisticated dresses that are meant to make women feel appropriate in the office–confident while insanely chic. emploi focuses on fit and fabric, keeping lines classic and feminine, to ensure that the women wearing their dresses feel sexy and confident.
We had the opportunity to ask the founder a few questions about her company–see what she said below!
TWF: What inspired you to start emploi New York?
eNY: While working for major Wall Street firms, I had difficulty finding outfits that were elegant, comfortable, and affordable–that I could wear both to work and dinner out afterwards and feel confident, stylish, and feminine. This was the impetus to begin a line that fulfilled the fashion needs of the working woman. emploi New York is all about looking and feeling good. As someone who has spent very long hours in the office, I understand the fashion needs of the businesswoman very well. emploi New York is much more than a quality collection of beautiful and comfortable dresses–our goal is to let a woman feel fashionable, feminine, and unique on her own terms.
TWF: What value does emploi have that makes it stand out against other fashion tech companies?
eNY: It is created by a working woman who understands that the modern businesswoman leads a complex life. Success in the workplace is not enough; we also need to look good. emploi New York offers feminine, flattering, and affordable fashion. Every item in our collection works equally well, whether presenting in the boardroom or enjoying after-work cocktails. The timeless structure and clean cut of an emploi New York dress allow any woman to creatively tailor each outfit to her own uniquely individual, personal style.
TWF: What has been the hardest obstacle for you in the process of building the company? What has been your favorite part?
eNY: The hardest obstacle was saying “no” to many business proposals we received, but thought were not right for the company. The favorite part, of course, is seeing women wearing our dresses–this is the ultimate compliment one can hope for.
