There’s some 70+ fashion events as SXSW this year (we remember when there was zero–we’ve come a long way, fashionistas!) but here’s our top three picks:
Fashion Retail Solutions: Beyond the Marketplace // On Friday at 3:30, come see Third Wave Fashion founder Liza Kindred, along with Decoded Fashion founder Liz Baclaer, in this panel put on my the founders of UK’s Coldlillies. Get ready to talk serious retail tech.
Wearable Computing: Now, Near & Next Generation // There’s a bunch of wearable tech panels, but this one is our pick, thanks in no small part to the powerhouse lineup. Saturday at 5 pm.
Mind the Gap: UI Design Between & Among Devices // C’mon, expand your mind. Third Wave Fashiona advisor and tech guru Josh Clark talks about how deviced interact with each other. It’s super fascinating stuff to see! Monday at 9:30 am.
And hey, let’s face it, SXSW is as much (if not more) about the socializing and networking. Here’s one tech and one fashion pick for you:
Fashion Brain Bar // If you’re in the industry, apply to attend this poolside networking event. Put on my Fashion’s Collective, it’s quickly become one of our favorite events. Monday afternoon.
IEEE Technology for Humanity Party // Held at the stunningly grand, historic, and possibly haunted Driskill hotel, this party celebrates how technology connects humans. Last year, Tim Berners-Lee was there… not to name drop or anything, but he invented the World Wide Web. Sunday, 8-10 pm.
Note from Liza:
It’s my tenth year at SXSW (long time geek here), and I’ve got some bonus tips for you to make your Austin experience a true Texas vacation… stuff your face with BBQ at The Salt Lick, drink an avocado maragrita at Curra’s Grill, have a drink poolside at the San Jose Hotel, and whatever you do, don’t forget to go two-stepping at The Broken Spoke–this honky tonk will change your life.
See you in Austin!
