Today, we’ve got the MIDI Controller Jacket from Machina… and this thing can really sing!
Product: This jacket makes music–literally. It’s got an accelerometer, a gyroscope, an altimeter, a magnetometer, and for good measure, a drumpad. Put the jacket on, and using your iOS device, your dance becomes your music.
Price: The jacket will sell for $524, their speaker hoodie for $280
How It Looks: Functional black nylon. It is a wearable instrument, after all.
What It Does: Zippers control volume, raising your hands raises and lowers the beat or changes the pitch, and the drumpad gives you a way to tap out your beats. It’s waterproof and windproof. Which likely makes it mud proof, too.
Who It’s For: Your friend who loves music festivals.
Wear It With: Denim cutoffs, a daisy halo from That Madonna Girl, and Marc Jacobs rain boots.
We caught up Machina to find out more about the MIDI Jacket.
Describe your product.
The MIDI Controller Jacket is the first jacket that allows the user to create music through motion and touch sensors with a mobile app–you can create music by using your body as an interface. Imagine being able to extend that jacket to make it work not only with music, but with whichever devices you have.
We’re a fashion brand and have other products, including tshirts and a hoodie with speakers (that allows you to listen to your music via Bluetooth.)
