On Our Radar: Tiger Eye Sensor

On Our Radar: Tiger Eye Sensor

Security-focused wearables are holding their place in the wearables market, and this new device is certainly an interesting addition. Tiger Eye is unique in that it is voice activated and has photographic capabilities as well. CJ Scarlet, the founder of Tiger Eye, gives us more details.

Describe Tiger Eye Security.

Tiger Eye Security, Inc., is developing the Tiger Eye Security Sensor™ (TESS™), the first and only voice-activated wearable personal security device designed to actually deter crime and assaults. Disguised as trendy jewelry and trained to the wearer’s voice, TESS™ is activated when the wearer calls out for help in an emergency. It then links the wearer to a live monitoring agent who calls police or an ambulance to her GPS location and warns the perpetrator to leave the scene. At the same time, TESS™ blinds the perpetrator with a bright LED and begins photographing and audio recording him/her, sending the data to the cloud where it can be accessed by law enforcement to help capture and prosecute the criminal—all while remaining in two-way voice communication with the agent until help arrives.

What inspired you to create the Tiger Eye Sensor?

When I was a freshman in college I was raped by an acquaintance. For a decade I grappled with the trauma. Then I took my power back and became an advocate for other victims. But after 20 years in the criminal justice field, I grew tired of dealing with crime after it occurred. So I invented TESS™ to help deter crime and violence.

What sets the Tiger Eye Sensor apart from other security wearables out there?

TESS™ not only provides two-way voice communication with a live agent, it activates with a simple cry for help. TESS™ also captures photographic and audio evidence of the incident to help police capture and prosecute the criminal.

What has been one of the most challenging parts of getting started? How did you overcome this and what did you learn?

The greatest challenge has been bringing together all the technologies included in this complex device. We turned to a superior engineering firm, Nuvation, to get the job done and the development is going great!

Where can we buy your product, when is it available, and what is the cost?

Tiger Eye is a B2B company that will sell TESS™ wholesale to home monitoring companies who will, in turn, sell them to consumers. The retail cost of TESS™ is $159, but our home monitoring partners may discount that. We anticipate having TESS™ on the market in Q3 2016.

What can we expect next from Tiger Eye Security?

There are so many ways TESS™ can be used in addition to personal security, for example, for medical emergencies, fall detection or as a life tracker. We are limited only by our imagination.
