Heads up: ASOS and Wayra UK are looking for the world’s most innovative fashion tech startups. Today’s announcement explains how the two have partnered together to launch an accelerator program.
ASOS – one of the world’s leading fashion destinations for 20-somethings – is launching a partnership with Wayra UK, part of Telefónica Open Future, to find and accelerate innovative start-ups with technology that can make the ASOS experience even better for its 11 million customers around the world.
With more than 80,000 products on ASOS, 3,500 new items added every week and an average of 3.2 million visits daily, ASOS and Wayra UK will be looking for smart technologies to accelerate the pace of innovation within the fashion technology space, making the customer experience easier, more enjoyable, and more personalized.
The program will begin in July 2016 and will run for eight months. Those startups accepted into the accelerator will receive benefits including funding up to £34,000, office space in the recently refurbished Wayra UK academy, dedicated mentors, coaches, access to the investor network, skill development through master classes, and business development through Telefónica and ASOS’s local and global footprint.
Who should apply? ASOS and Wayra UK are asking that mature fashion tech startups submit proposals. They define mature as those startups with a “proven track record of developing technologies, products and services that complement the ASOS experience.” It is specified that as part of this call they are not looking for startups in wearable tech, 3D printing, or the fashion design space.
Think your startup is a good fit? The application deadline is Monday May 23rd at 9 am. “Those start-ups selected will go through to the semi-finals on Thursday 26th May at ASOS with the finals taking place at the Wayra UK academy on Thursday 2nd June.” To get more details and to apply visit the accelerator website here. We can’t wait to see which startups are accepted!
