A new international fashion tech accelerator has been created: Group Galeries Lafayette and Plug and Play Tech Center have teamed up to create Lafayette Plug and Play. We talked with Michael Olmstead, VP of Corporate Partnerships, Plug and Play, who told us more.
Some of the mentors for this program include people from Birchbox, Farfetch, Galeries Lafayette, and Partech Ventures to name a few. The program’s focus will be on fashion and retail.
Lafayette Plug and Play is a ground-breaking innovation platform designed to boost the next generation of retail and fashion companies. It is where startups meet experts, mentors, corporations, and investors.
What inspired you to create this fashion tech accelerator?
Paris has been on Plug and Play’s mind and we were looking for the right opportunity and partner. Paris is the fashion capital of the world and Silicon Valley is the technology capital world – together they make Lafayette – Plug and Play. We see huge potential for disruption and through Lafayette Plug and Play we plan to capitalize on this opportunity for investing in startups that want to change the future of fashion and retail.
What is Lafayette and Plug and Play’s goal with this accelerator?
Our goals are: to become the premier destination for startups at the intersection of of fashion, retail and technology, and make 20 investments per year (10 per batch).
